Quantifying and Contextualizing Mass Shootings in America
While traumas are still fresh in our minds, let us act.
Those for whom the trauma is more real than any average citizen or innocent bystander can imagine, let them be at peace in their time of grief.
Those in shock and awe, wondering how to react, let us have the conversation about gun control, about mental illness, about violence and hatred.
We owe it to those who are too hurt in this moment
to speak out.
We owe it to those who have lost their lives as a result
to speak out.
How do we make change in the area of gun control and prevention of gun violence?
When is it appropriate to have or own a gun?
What laws in place now are being effective? Which are not?
Who is 'fit' to own a gun?
Who can determine one's eligibility to own a firearm?
Are there guns that are more 'okay' than others?
Let's have this conversation, whether it's here in the comments on my blog, in talking with others, via other forms of social media, or whatever.
We need to talk.
