In a world where gun violence and senseless acts of hate seem to be the norm,
when will we ever learn?
Originally written by the legendary folk singer Pete Seeger, I reworked "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" to fit the mood and desperation I feel after hearing about yet another mass shooting in the US, this time in San Bernadino, CA. This shooting, in conjunction with continued terrorist attacks, military strikes, and humanitarian crises around the world, leaves me and many with a sense of hopelessness. My only response today can be this - music to make us think, remind us to love, and urge us to seek peace in this broken world.
"This will be our response to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before."
- Leonard Bernstein, November 22, 1963
